Privacy & Confidentiality
Upon being accepted into the Servas Canada community, every member is required to complete, sign, and submit a Privacy & Confidentiality Agreement form [ADD LINK]. This form indicates that you, as a member of Servas Canada, agree to keep confidential all personal host and traveller information to which you have access and that you will only use it for the purposes for which it is intended.
All personal host and traveller information is located on a secure database called ServasOnline, which contains Servas member profiles plus travellers’ Letters of Introduction (LOI). This detail is created and updated by individual members, who also determine the level of privacy with which their information is displayed. Approved members have access to this personal host and traveller information for the purpose of learning about opportunities, arranging travel, and contacting other Servas members directly. Personal data will remain in the database unless there is termination of a Servas Canada membership, in which case the member profile will be deactivated.
Servas Canada commits to its members to keep all information regarding hosts and travellers confidential, and will not sell, rent, lease or give member information to third parties. Servas Canada and Servas International administrators can and will use the ServasOnline data for Servas purposes only including to identify memberships, travel and hosting patterns, correspondence, etc. As well, personal data may be accessed in the event of an emergency to help address the situation.
